Day
1 - Antananarivo
Arrival in Antananarivo in the early
morning. You will be met our ground
Agent, and transferred to your Hotel
for breakfast with the rest of the morning
at leisure. After lunch we visit Tsarasaotra
for a look at our first endemic birds
and keep an eye out for the world’s
biggest Chameleon: Oustalet.
1 overnight Hotel Colbert
Days 2+3: Berenty Park
This morning we fly to Fort Dauphin
on the south of the island, and transfer
to Berenty for two nights to observe
and photograph the antics of the Ring-tailed
and Brown Lemurs, and the stunning
white Verreaux's Siffakas. After an
early breakfast we set off on our
mornings walk keeping an eye out for
the Madagascan Boa and numerous butterflies
the Colotis amatus and manahari and
Belenois grandidieri, as well as the
colourful red Acraea damni.
2 overnights Berenty Lodge
Day 4: Antananarivo
Today we return to Fort Dauphin for
the flight back to Antananarivo
1 overnight Hotel Colbert
Days 5+6, Perinet
We take a morning to drive to Perinet
and the famous Indri Reserve of Analamazaotra.
Arriving around lunchtime, we then
explore the local area in the afternoon,
and may venture out spotlighting at
night.
Each day we head off for the Reserve
after an early breakfast. Whilst the
lake trail is flat, there are one
or two trails on hills, which are
equally worth investigation. After
rain, another asian affinity: terrestrial
leeches can be seen on the trails.
The walking is quite easy: either
a gentle slope, or flat, or, where
there is a climb, steps have been
carved into the forest.
2 overnights Vakona Lodge,
Day 7: Depart
From Perinet we return to Antananarivo,
arriving in time for dinner before
the transfer to the airport for the
final departure.
