Day 1 Nairobi On arrival families are met and transferred by your Origins guide to the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and Cottages for their first night in Kenya’s capital city. After an early breakfast and full
briefing by your Professinal Safari
Guide, we depart for a leisurely,
4-5 hours scenic drive northwards
over the shoulder of Mount Kenya to
Samburu in the Northern Frontier District.
Arriving in time for a late lunch
there is time to unpack and unwind
before our first game drive inside
the Samburu National Reserve. Samburu
offers a visual feast as proud Samburu
herdsman coexist with the wildlife;
many rare & endemic species thrive
here including Grevy’s Zebra,
Somali Ostrich, Besia Orys, Gerenuk,
Olive Baboon, Guenther’s DikDik
and Reticulated Giraffe; Leopard and
Elephant are plentiful. The Young
Adventurers club at camp provides
junior wildlife enthusiasts with plenty
of fun and the chance to learn bush
skills, supervised bushwalks and flexible
mealtimes and leisure programs
3 overnights Samburu Intrepids Camp. Days 5, 6 Lake Nakuru National Park
We leave after breakfast to drive
5 hours across the Rift Valley (or
an optional 35 minute private charter
flight) to the freshwater lake and
Rhino sanctuary in Lake Nakuru National
Park. Of the worlds population of
5 million flamingos, 3 million thrive
on the Rift Valley soda lakes (and
up to 1 million on Lake Nakuru alone).
We are based right inside the Reserve
and spend our days exploring this
delightful wildlife sanctuary, home
to so many different species including
Lion, Leopard, Jackal, Hyena, Black
and White Rhino and fantastic birdlife.
2 overnights Lake Nakuru Lodge
Days 7, 8, 9 Maasai Mara: From Nakuru it’s a 5 hour drive (or an optional 35 minute private charter flight) to the Maasai Mara and our next adventure: the greatest wildlife experience of all. Year round the Maasai Mara Reserve is host to an enormous concentration of animals, boosted by the famous wildebeest and zebra migration during July/August/October. All the Big Cats, Elephant, Black Rhino and thousands of plains game spread out before you - it’s better than the Lion King because you are part of the spectacle. The Young Adventurer’s club at camp introduces young safari enthusiasts to the wildlife and also invites them to experience the rich culture and practice of the indigenous Maasai people. 3 Overnights Mara Intrepids Camp
Day 10 Depart.
Fly back on a scheduled internal flight,
the choice is yours. Arrive in time
for lunch and the comfort of a day
room at the Karen Blixen Cottages.
Optional shopping/sightseeing tours
can be booked to the Snake Park, Butterfly
Museum, Nairobi National Park, Giraffe
Feeding Centre and local Art &
Craft centres.
