Day
1 Nairobi:
Our
safari begins in Kenya's capital city,
Nairobi, at the Giraffe Manor, an
elegant, personally hosted small and
exclusive hotel famous for its resident
herd of giraffe.
1 overnight Giraffe Manor
Days
2, 3 & 4 Samburu Reserve:
We fly to the dry northern territory
known as the Northern Frontier District
(remote, beautiful and extremely dry)
home to the most northerly representatives
of Kenya's tribes who speak the Maa
language. The Samburu still adhere
to their traditional way of life as
nomadic pastoralists, co-existing
with the plentiful wildlife that ranges
across this arid and beautiful landscape.
The next three days will be spend
exploring the Samburu National Reserve
– it offers incredible scenery,
cultural immersion and game viewing
opportunities.
3 overnights SaSaab Lodge
Days
5, 6 & 7 Maasai Mara Reserve:
After a leisurely breakfast we fly
to the Maasai Mara. Here we spend
the next 3 days exploring the world's
greatest wildlife spectacle with miles
and miles of open plains: Rhino, Elephant,
Giraffe and herds of Buffalo, Wildebeeste,
Zebra and other plains game attended
by their predators - Lion, Cheetah,
Leopard. This is the heartbeat of
Africa: the chase, the kill, the mating…the
rituals of daily survival.
3 overnights Mara Plains Camp
Days
8, 9 & 10 Lake Manyara & Ngorongoro
Crater:
After breakfast and a game drive to
the airstrip we take the scheduled
flight to Nairobi to connect with
the flight to Arusha, Tanzania. On
arrival you transfer to a short, internal
flight to Lake Manyara and transfer
to The Manor at Ngorongoro. The crater
protects an incredible wildlife spectacle:
the floor of this extinct volcano,
some 2000 feet below the rim spans,
102 miles of savannah, lakes and marshes
conserves over 30,000 large mammals,
the greatest concentration of resident
mammals in all of Africa. Spend the
next two days exploring the Ngorongoro
Crater and one of Rift Valley's legendary
soda lakes and ecosystem – Lake
Manyara.
3 overnights The Manor at
Ngorongoro
Days
11, 12 & 13 Serengeti Plains:
We fly on across the Ngorongoro Crater
to the Serengeti Plains. On arrival
you will be met and game drive en
route to the beautiful and remote
Sayari Camp near the border with Kenya,
on the Mara River. We spend our days
exploring this most famous of Tanzania’s
remote national parks, home to more
than 2 million large mammals, the
largest concentration anywhere in
the world. Continually migrating in
search of fresh grazing on the short
grass over plains that stretch as
far as the eye can see, the herds
of Wildebeest, Zebra, Thomson’s
and Grant’s Gazelles are perpetually
stalked by their predators: Lion,
Leopard and Hyena.
3 overnights Sayari Mara Camp
Day
14 Nairobi:
Fly back to Nairobi, dayroom at Giraffe
Manor & depart.
